Saturday, 30 July 2011 -
England will face Montenegro, Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, and San Marino
in Group H when they bid to qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals in
Brazil. The draw was made this afternoon in Rio. "It is not an easy
draw," said Fabio Capello. "You have to be really, really focused and
play every game like a final - but that will be another manager's
job."

- England's FIFA 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures have today been
finalised, following a meeting between all of the Group H member
associations in Warsaw. The Three Lions will begin their campaign in
Moldova in September 2012.
Tuesday, 24 September 2013 -
Theo Walcott will miss England's World Cup qualifiers against
Montenegro and Poland after having abdominal surgery on Wednesday.
Walcott did not play in Arsenal's win against Stoke on Sunday, despite
initially being named in the team. "Theo will be out for a few
weeks," said Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.
Thursday, 3 October 2013 -
Roy Hodgson has named his
23-man squad. Included in the squad is Daniel Sturridge and Wayne
Rooney, who were both injured in the last squad. They have both scored
eight goals in the Premiership between them. The squad as a whole is
largely unchanged to Hodgson's last squad.
Sunday, 6 October 2013 -
Ashley Cole is to have a
scan on a rib injury he suffered in Chelsea's 3-1 win at Norwich City
today. Cole was substituted with 15 minutes left at Carrow Road for
tactical reasons, but later complained of a problem.
Monday, 7 October 2013 -
Ashley Cole will miss the
qualifier against Montenegro with a rib injury and has been replaced
in manager Roy Hodgson's squad by Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs. He will
remain with his club for more treatment. It is not yet clear whether
Cole will be fit enough to feature against Poland.
Friday, 11 October 2013 -
Tom Cleverley has been ruled
out of England's World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland
with a calf injury.
Later on in the day, England beat Montenegro 4-1, setting up a
vital needed victory over Polan don Tuesday to ensure automatic
qualification. Kyle Walker received a caution, meaning he is suspended
for the match at Wembley on Tuesday.

Tom Cleverley's withdrawal
has meant that Liverpool's teenager Raheem Sterling has been called in
to provide suitable cover. Sterling comes in from the under-21 squad.

Ashley Cole is out of England's final World Cup qualifier against Poland
on Tuesday with a rib injury. The Chelsea left-back missed Friday's
win over Montenegro with the problem and has failed to recover in
time. Everton's Leighton Baines is expected to continue in the
position after playing there on Friday.

Fifa has started disciplinary proceedings against the English and Polish
football associations after flares were lit during the final World Cup
qualifier at Wembley. Supporters in the Poland section were
photographed holding lit flares, while one also landed on the pitch.
Thirty-five Poles and one England fan were arrested after the match,
with police holding 16 people for
possessing or using flares.
England boss Hodgson has selected Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge and
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, who between them have bagged eight
times in the Premier League this season, after they missed
September's qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.
