Diary

Saturday, 30 July 2011 - England will face Montenegro, Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, and San Marino in Group H when they bid to qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. The draw was made this afternoon in Rio. "It is not an easy draw," said Fabio Capello. "You have to be really, really focused and play every game like a final - but that will be another manager's job."

Wednesday, 23 November 2011 - England's FIFA 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures have today been finalised, following a meeting between all of the Group H member associations in Warsaw. The Three Lions will begin their campaign in Moldova in September 2012.

Tuesday, 24 September 2013 - Theo Walcott will miss England's World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland after having abdominal surgery on Wednesday. Walcott did not play in Arsenal's win against Stoke on Sunday, despite initially being named in the team.  "Theo will be out for a few weeks," said Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.

Thursday, 3 October 2013 - Roy Hodgson has named his 23-man squad. Included in the squad is Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney, who were both injured in the last squad. They have both scored eight goals in the Premiership between them. The squad as a whole is largely unchanged to Hodgson's last squad.

Sunday, 6 October 2013 - Ashley Cole is to have a scan on a rib injury he suffered in Chelsea's 3-1 win at Norwich City today. Cole was substituted with 15 minutes left at Carrow Road for tactical reasons, but later complained of a problem.

Monday, 7 October 2013 - Ashley Cole will miss the qualifier against Montenegro with a rib injury and has been replaced in manager Roy Hodgson's squad by Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs. He will remain with his club for more treatment. It is not yet clear whether Cole will be fit enough to feature against Poland.

Friday, 11 October 2013 - Tom Cleverley has been ruled out of England's World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland with a calf injury.

England boss Hodgson has selected Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, who between them have bagged eight times in the Premier League this season, after they missed September's qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.

Rickie Lambert and Danny Welbeck are also included in the forward line along with Jermain Defoe.

The midfield is largely unchanged and includes England's latest member of the 100-club, Frank Lampard, skipper Steven Gerrard anderton teenager Ross Barkley.
