All information is
complete to and including England's last match, the fifth of the 2014-15 season,
against Slovenia on 14 November 2014.
Diary
Monday, 14 July 2014
- England will return north of the border for the first time in 15
years when they take on Scotland on Tuesday 18 November. Following the
thrilling 3-2 victory at Wembley last August, Roy Hodgson's side will
now head to Glasgow for the return match in November. It will be the
first meeting in Scotland since two goals from Paul Scholes gave
England the advantage in a Euro 2000 play-off and will be played at
Celtic Park due to the renovation of Hampden Park.
Thursday, 6 November 2014
- Roy Hodgson names his squad.
Saido Berahino has been handed his first
England senior call-up after an impressive run of scoring form. The West
Bromwich Albion striker has netted eight goals in 13 outings for the Baggies
this season, as well as helping England Under-21s reach the European
Championship Finals. Hodgson has also been able to recall Arsenal forward Theo
Walcott, who returned to action last weekend after missing most of this year due
to injury. Meanwhile, Manchester United's Michael Carrick and West Ham United's
Stewart Downing are also back in the fold.
Tuesday, 11 November 2014
- Gary Cahill, Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
and Andros Townsend all miss the first day of training at St. George's
Park because of various "knocks". Danny Welbeck, Calum Chambers,
Kieran Gibbs, Ross Barkley and Saido Berahino are doing modified
training, which is mainly held in the gym. Jack Wilshere has tape on
his left knee but is moving freely. Because of the small numbers,
Hodgson drafted in Jamaal Lascelles and Jack Robinson just for today.
Wednesday, 12 November 2014
- Michael Carrick will miss Saturday's
qualifier against Slovenia with a groin injury. Carrick, who last
played for England in a World Cup qualifier against Poland last year,
picked up the "minor groin injury" in training. An FA spokesman said
Carrick, 33, would return to his club and there would be "no call-ups
at this time". The Manchester United player will also miss the
friendly with Scotland three days later.
Thursday, 13 November 2014
- Andros Townsend is the second player to
withdraw from the squad. He returns to his club suffering with an
ankle injury. Townsend arrived at St. George's Park with the knock and
has not trained this week. Hodgson has not drafted in any
replacements for Townsend or Carrick. Luke Shaw has also been
culled from the squad to face Slovenia, as UEFA regulations only allow
a 23-man squad. He is readily available for the friendly against
Scotland, however.
Friday, 14 November 2014
- Twenty-three of the the twenty-four man
squad are training at St. George's Park today. West Ham United's
Stewart Downing missed training after he picked up a knock in training
yesterday. He should be fit for the match tomorrow. Leighton Baines
becomes the third player to withdraw from the squad because of injury.
His absence means that Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs is the only recognised
left-back in the squad, as Shaw is unavailable for the match tomorrow.
Shaw cannot be recalled in as it happened after the 11am deadline set
by UEFA.
Saturday, 15 November 2014
- England come from behind to beat
Slovenia 3-1. Rooney penalty and a Welbeck brace secure the points
after Jordan Henderson headed the ball through his own net. Joe
Hart has been released from the squad
-
giving Fraser Forster a chance of playing for his country at his
former club ground Celtic Park.
Hodgson
said: 'I was going to release Leighton Baines for the Scotland game
but he got injured anyway.
The other one is Joe Hart. He will go home
and have a break because I have two other goalkeepers I can play.
There is potential for me to change the team but it is not a question
of sending the bulk of the squad home because it is an important
game.'
