Marriage to Susanne Harper, on 11 June 1968 [registered in Leeds, Yorkshire, June 1968].
Death Friday, 17 April 2020 at St. James' Hospital in Leeds, from complications arising from the coronavirus pandemic, aged 76 years 171 days.
Norman had been diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2013. Admitted into hospital on Friday, 10 April after contracting CoVid19.
Funeral Saturday, 10 May 2020 after being carried down the Elland Road players' tunnel and placed in front of the West Stand.

Playing Career


Club(s)
Joined Leeds United AFC as a fifteen year old after being spotted playing for Birtley Juniors FC. After joining the groundstaff in Aptil 1961, he became one of Don Revie's linchpins in his successful side of time. Leaving the club after 726 matches in October 1976 to play with Bristol City FC, and then Barnsley FC from June 1979, becoming the club's player-manager in October 1980. He retired from playing in 1983, having received six red cards.

Management Career

Club(s) Appointed as Barnsley FC player-manager in October 1980, relinquishing playing in January 1983. Management ended on 8 February 1984. Had a spell coach West Bromwich Albion FC, before returning to management with Rotherham United FC on 18 June 1985, until 9 December 1987. Coached Bradford City AFC. Following the sacking of Billy Bremner at Leeds United AFC in 1988, Hunter had a spell as caretaker manager.
