in Paris.
FIRST INTERNATIONAL APPEARANCE for Tony Currie.
3 February 1968: England lost at home to Scotland in a
youth international for the first time, by 5-0 at Walsall.
Unofficial British Champions
(Under-23): England, who won both of their games away from home. Scotland
did not play Wales.
7 February 1968: England visited the Republic of Ireland
for a youth international for the first time, and failed to score
against them for the first time at any level, in a goalless draw in the
UEFA Youth Tournament qualifying round first leg at Dalymount Park,
Dublin.
28 February 1968: England met the Republic of Ireland at
home in a youth international for the first time, and won 4-1 in the
UEFA Youth Tournament qualifying round second leg at Portsmouth (to win
4-1 on aggregate).
16 March 1968: Wales won a youth international in England
for the first time, by 3-2 at Watford.

April 1968: The UEFA Youth Tournament began in south-east France (co-hosts
in 1951 and 1958) for 16 teams. Bulgaria met England in a professional
youth international for the first time, in a goalless draw in their
opening match in Nîmes.
1 May 1968: England beat Hungary in an under-23
international for the first time, by 4-0 at Goodison Park.
4 May 1968: Wales won an under-18 schoolboy
international for the first time, and avoided defeat against England for
the first time, when they won 2-1 at Newport.
