Diary

Monday, 21 December 2009 - England's opening match of 2010 will see Egypt visit Wembley for the first time on Wednesday 3 March, as Fabio Capello continues his preparations for the World Cup Finals. The match will be significant for Capello and his England players, having been drawn alongside Egypt's fellow North Africans Algeria in Group C at the World Cup.

Saturday, 27 February 2010 - Stoke City's Ryan Shawcross has been named in the England squad hours after being sent off for a tackle which left Aaron Ramsey with a suspected broken leg.  The defender, 22, left the field in tears after the injury to the Arsenal midfielder.  Fabio Capello also named Everton's Leighton Baines and Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock in his squad.  West Ham's Carlton Cole and Arsenal's Theo Walcott have also been picked.  Capello has rewarded Stewart Downing for his fine form with Aston Villa, but Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has been overlooked.  Cole returned from an eight-month injury absence in September but has struggled to hold down a regular place at Stamford Bridge.
