Diary

Wednesday, 9 September 2020 - England will play New Zealand in a friendly at Wembley Stadium on 12 November. The match will be the third meeting of the two sides and will serve as a warm-up for the Three Lions' Nations League games away to Belgium on November 15 and home to Iceland on November 18. In keeping with current guidelines, the game is scheduled to be played behind closed doors, although in a statement, the Football Association said they are "committed to working with the Government to get supporters back in stadiums as soon as possible." England's two previous games against New Zealand came as part of a 1991 summer tour.

Wednesday, 14 October 2020 - New Zealand Football are disappointed to confirm that they are withdrawing from their All Whites fixture against England on 12 November (13 November NZ time) due to further travel and player availability complications caused by Covid-19. NZF CEO Andrew Pragnell said: "It is with deep regret that we have been forced to cancel our participation in the upcoming match against England at Wembley. It is not an action taken lightly, this is a match we all wanted to play, however, as it stands of the last All Whites squad selected for the November 2019 tour,en excluding the New Zealand based players, a significant number of the team would be subject to quarantine or restrictions on their return home. This would heavily disrupt their domestic seasons and potentially jeopardise their professional careers. The shifting nature of travel restrictions and commercial flight availability under Covid means that we do not have certainty we could assemble a squad at Wembley on this day and defaulting on this fixture at the last minute is not an option. Prior to Covid we had a full calendar of fixtures planned for the All Whites, and we have been proactive in seeking out matches for the team since the disruption, but unfortunately it just isn’t possible to make the new games we have scheduled this year happen.  We are now looking forward to the March 2021 international window as we begin our qualifying campaign for the FIFA 2022 FIFA World Cup." All Whites Head Coach Danny Hay said: "I’m gutted, and I know the players will also be, but this is one of those situations we can’t do anything about. We always knew when planning for these fixtures that certain players would be unavailable but looking at the restrictions currently in place, as well as the rising number of Covid-19 cases across Europe, it just isn’t possible to put a competitive squad together. We all want to be playing more games but coming up against one of the top sides in the world with a heavily understrength team doesn’t do anything to help our long-term development."

Wednesday, 21 October 2020 -
England will play the Republic of Ireland in an international friendly at Wembley on 12 November. The game will be played behind closed doors. The Republic are away to Wales on 15 November and at home to Bulgaria on 18 November in their remaining Nations League games. Stephen Kenny's side missed out on the Euro 2020 play-off final against Northern Ireland on 12 November after losing to Slovakia on penalties in a tense semi-final in Bratislava. England's last meeting with the Republic was a goalless draw in Dublin in June 2015, while their most recent game at Wembley was a 1-1 draw in May 2013. England have not beaten the Republic since 1985.
The Football Association would have faced paying compensation to ITV if the friendly fixture, which the broadcaster has the live rights to show, could not have gone ahead.

Wednesday, 4 November 2020 - UEFA confirm that Reece James is suspended for England's final two Nations League matches, following his dismissal for dissent after the final whistle against Denmark last month
. Harry Maguire, who was dismissed for two yellow cards, will miss the match against Belgium.

Thursday, 5 November 2020 - Gareth Southgate has named a 29-man squad for the upcoming matches against Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland from next Thursday. There are no new faces. There is a return to the squad of Phil Foden.

Tuesday, 10 November 2020 - Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Ward-Prowse have both withdrawn from the squad and returned to their clubs. Their is a first call-up for seventeen year old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford will mass the game against Republic of Ireland as he will not report for duty until Thursday morning, following an injury he suffered at the weekend.

Wednesday, 11 November 2020 - Liverpool central defender Joe Gomez has been injured whilst training with the England squad. The news that Gomez could now be facing a spell on the sidelines leaves his club manager Jurgen Klopp with a serious problem with his defence becoming more dilapidated as the their fixtures continue to come. It is also a personal blow to Gomez, who has suffered serious injuries in the past.
