All information is complete to and including England's last match, the seventh of the 2020-21 season, against Belgium on 15 November 2020

Wednesday, 4 November 2020 - UEFA confirm that Reece James is suspended for England's final two Nations League matches, following his dismissal for dissent after the final whistle against Denmark last month. Harry Maguire, who was dismissed for two yellow cards, will miss the match against Belgium.

Thursday, 5 November 2020 - Gareth Southgate has named a 29-man squad for the upcoming matches against Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland from next Thursday. There are no new faces. There is a return to the squad of Phil Foden.

Sunday, 8 November 2020 -
England's Nations League match against Iceland is in doubt because of the UK government's new travel ban on non-UK visitors coming from Denmark. The restrictions relate to concerns over a new coronavirus strain that has spread from mink to humans. Iceland are set to play Denmark in Copenhagen three days before facing England at Wembley on 18 November. "Unlike other travel to the UK, there will be no exemptions to this quarantine policy," the guidance says. Since June, elite sportspeople have been exempt from coronavirus-related travel restrictions. The latest rules, which took effect at 04:00 GMT on Saturday, will be reviewed after a week, the Department For Transport said. European football governing body UEFA's coronavirus protocols state that international matches can be rescheduled at a date fixed by UEFA, or be played at a neutral venue if necessary. Rescheduling is not an option. UEFA is understood to be studying the matter.

Monday, 9 November 2020 - England may have to forfeit their final Nations League group game against Iceland due to government policy after UEFA is expected to sanction Denmark's fixture with the Icelanders in Copenhagen this Sunday. It remains unclear whether the possibility of playing the fixture in a neutral venue next Wednesday would be acceptable under the Government's rules.

Tuesday, 10 November 2020 - Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Ward-Prowse have both withdrawn from the squad and returned to their clubs. Their is a first call-up for seventeen year old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford will mass the game against Republic of Ireland as he will not report for duty until Thursday morning, following an injury he suffered at the weekend.
The UK Government will meet on Thursday to review the Denmark coronavirus restrictions that are currently preventing England fulfilling their UEFA Nations League fixture against Iceland next week. Entry from Denmark is currently banned for non-British residents.
The FA are arguing that all professional footballers are tested regularly and remain in Covid-free bubbles, but it is thought that Government scientists have concerns that this new strain may not be detected by current tests.
Albania has emerged as the leading candidate to host England - with Germany another option being explored. Albania's Football Association is willing to provide a neutral venue. It has made a tentative approach to its counterparts in Germany about the possibility of the game being staged there too.

Wednesday, 11 November 2020 - Liverpool central defender Joe Gomez has been injured whilst training with the England squad. The news that Gomez could now be facing a spell on the sidelines leaves his club manager Jurgen Klopp with a serious problem with his defence becoming more dilapidated as the their fixtures continue to come. It is also a personal blow to Gomez, who has suffered serious injuries in the past.

Thursday, 12 November 2020 - England's Nations League match against Iceland will be played at Wembley on Wednesday after a UK government exemption was given to the away side.
England strolled to victory against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley. Gareth Southgate gave his second string team a chance as he kept the main players back for the match on Sunday - but they still outclassed an Irish side. Jude Bellingham became England's third youngest player, and Manchester United goalkeeper also won his first senior cap as a replacement for Nick Pope. Harry Maguire headed in Harry Winks' cross after 18 minutes. Jadon Sancho doubled England's advantage beforeerton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored emphatically from the penalty spot to seal the victory.
Conor Coady and Marcus Rashford have been force to withdraw from the squad after being identified as a close contact of someone who tested posted positive for coronavirus.

Friday, 13 November 2020 - The starting XI from last night's victory have a day of recovery, whilst the remainder of the squad have training. Suspended Reece James has returned to his club.

Saturday, 14 November 2020 - The 24-man squad are out for training, all remaining players are involved in the morning session. They fly to Belgium in the afternoon.

Sunday, 15 November 2020 - Raheem Sterling has picked up an injury before the match tonight and is forced to miss out.
Gareth Southgate hands UEFA an updated squad list that necessitates the use of squad numbers. It is the first time England have been required to use squad numbers in qualification history. They have previously used squad numbers before in Final Tournament and Minor Tournament play. However, they were first used for the tour of Scandinavia in 1937.
England's hopes of qualifying for the Nations League Finals next October were ended by defeat on Belgium. England had plenty of possession against the World's top ranked side but were toothless in attack and ultimately undone by two early goals. Youri Tielemens opened the scoring after ten minutes when his 20-yard shot took a deflection of Tyrone Mings and Dries Mertens doubled the advantage 13 minutes later with a free-kick after Declan Rice was judged to have fouled Kevin De Bruyne.

Monday, 16 November 2020 - The squad spend the morning having a light training session before returning to their Surrey base.
Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson both withdraw from the squad because of their respective injuries.

Tuesday, 17 November 2020 - The remaining 22-man squad step up preparations for the match with Iceland tomorrow. All members are out training.
