All information is complete to and including England's last match, the fifth of the 2024-25 season, against Greece on 14 November 2024.

Diary

Thursday, 8 February 2024 - At the headquarters of UEFA at the Maison de la Mutualité, 24 Rue Saint-Victor, Paris, France. Serbia's Aleksandr Kolarov makes the draw of League B of UEFA Nation's League, and he pairs England with Republic of Ireland, Finland and Greece.

Thursday, 7 November 2024, 2.00pm - Lee Carsley has named his final 26-man squad for next week's Nations League preliminary matches. Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale returns, replacing Newcastle stopper Nick Pope. John Stones is not selected, with Newcastle full-back Lewis Hall and Southampton's Taylor Harwood-Bellis coming into defence. Curtis Jones replaces Kobbie Mainoo in midfield, while Carsley sticks with the seven forwards from his last squad, picking 26 players in total.

Sunday, 10 November 2024 - The Premier League programme has taken its toll on the participating squad players. Arsenal's Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka both had to be replaced because of picking up injuries. Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold was replaced in the first half and is likely to be sidelined for a number of weeks with a hamstring injury.

Monday, 11 November 2024 - The squad began arriving at St. George's Park.
7.00pm - Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers has been drafted into the senior squad from the under-21s along with Jarrad Branthwaite, Tino Livramento and James Trafford.  Also called up after initially missing out, is West Ham's Jarrod Bowen. They come after a record number of withdrawals. Eight in total have dropped out of Lee Carsley's final squad. Chelsea pair Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer, Arsenal pair Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, Manchester City pair Jack Grealish and Phil Foden, and Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale (fractured finger) are all apparently suffering with injuries.

Tuesday, 12 November 2024 - There are 23 players out training this morning at St. George's Park. Jarell Quansah has joined the session as Jarrad Branthwaite is working on an individual programme indoors.
Captain Harry Kane bemoans the withdrawals, insisting that 'England comes before club'.

Wednesday, 13 November 2024 - Once more, there are 23 players out training this morning. Jarell Quansah, again, has joined the session as Jarrad Branthwaite is still working on an individual programme indoors, during which there is a visit from former player, John Barnes.
The squad leave from Birmingham Airport, on board a 2Excel Aviation Boeing 737-76N (G-NEWG) (Call sign: BRO931A), departure was due at 2.45pm, to arrive at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos at 8.04pm.
In the press conference from Athens, Lee Carsley confirms that Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite has returned to his club, and Jarell Quansah, has taken his place on the plane and in the squad. Quansah trained with the first team this week, instead of Branthwaite.

Thursday, 14 November 2024 - Greece 0 England 3 - England will return to the top tier of the UEFA Nations League with victory over the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on Sunday after overcoming Greece in impressive style in Athens. Lee Carsley's side gained revenge for the debacle of a defeat to Greece at Wembley in October, and Thursday's win was even more satisfying for the interim manager after his squad was decimated by withdrawals. The emphatic margin of victory ensured England have a better head-to-head record against Greece after their 2-1 loss at Wembley, leaving their fate in their own hands. Ollie Watkins justified his selection ahead of captain Harry Kane when he put England ahead after only seven minutes, turning in Noni Madueke's cross after the Chelsea winger's fine run. England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford excelled in the rare moments of Greek pressure and the three points were secured in style late on. The second goal had a hint of fortune when Jude Bellingham's shot hit a post and ricocheted into the net off Greece keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos after 77 minutes. However, the third goal, six minutes later, was a flash of individual brilliance from Liverpool's Curtis Jones, who marked his debut by scoring with a stunning flicked finish from Morgan Gibbs-White's cross. After the match the FA released a statement saying it was aware that some England fans had a difficult experience outside the ground and are obtaining more information on what happened.

Friday, 15 November 2024 - The party return to Stanstead Airport, London, arriving at 3.16 GMT this morning, on board the same 2Excel Aviation Boeing 737-76N (G-NEWG) (Call sign: BRO931B), departure from Athens Eleftherios Venizelos was at 2.18am EET
.
UK police will investigate claims Greek police in Athens used riot shields and tear gas on England supporters before the Nations League match with Greece. Officers from the United Kingdom Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) were at the game: "A team of officers from the UKFPU were present at the match in Greece and we are aware of the difficulties that some fans experienced when attempting to enter the stadium. Officers actively worked with their counterparts to influence a change of tactics and, following the match, an investigation will now take place in partnership with the FA and FSA." The Football Association said it is obtaining information to establish what happened. About 3,500 England supporters travelled to the Greek capital for the sold-out fixture but some complained of being "pushed" and receiving "heavy-handed" treatment from local police. The FSA said UEFA has also been informed.

Saturday, 16 November 2024 - Defender Ezri Konsa has returned to Aston Villa from England duty, with Lee Carsley saying "we won't take risks with any of the players. He has been assessed by the medical team and the scan results are back. He will go back to Villa."
The remaining 22 players training at the Tottenham Hotspur Training Ground in Enfield.
