Club Career

Club(s) Was playing for St. Helens Town FC, when scouts from Turf Moor arrived. He later signed as an amateur at Burnley FC in October 1956, signing professional forms a month later. After 105 league goals in 265 appearances, Connelly joined Manchester United FC in April 1964 for £56,000. Another 22 league goals followed, in 80 appearances, before Connelly joined Blackburn Rovers FC in September 1966, and Connelly, now a member of the World Cup winning squad in 1966 went on to play 149 league appearances, scoring 36 times. Finally, Connelly joined Bury FC in 1970 and went on to play a further 128 league appearances, scoring 37 times. Connelly retired in May 1973 having played 622 matches in the Football League, scoring 200 goals.
