Diary

Thursday, 28 September 2017 - Gareth Southgate announces his 26-man squad for the final qualification matches. Fabian Delph is recalled for the first time since before the Euro 2016 Finals, when he was injured, and Fraser Forster is recalled after missing the last squad. Jamie Vardy, who is nursing a hip injury, and Danny Welbeck have both failed to make the squad.

Friday, 29 September 2017 - Dele Alli has been banned for one international match following his middle-finger gesture during the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia. The Tottenham player was also fined 5,000 Swiss francs (£3,852) by FIFA, which says the incident was "offensive and unsporting". Alli will miss Thursday's World Cup qualifier at home to Slovenia. The 21-year-old will be available for the game against Lithuania on Sunday.

Sunday, 1 October 2017 - The squad begin arriving at St. George's Park.

Monday, 2 October 2017 - Phil Jones and Fabian Delph sit out the first day of training. There were 21 members of the squad training on the newly-named Sir Bobby Charlton pitch at St. George's Park, with the remaining three players, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Harry Kane taking part in a recovery session.
On the evening, it is confirmed that Jones and Delph have returned to their clubs. Southgate drafts into a replacement, Tottenham's Harry Winks.

Thursday, 5 October 2017 - A Harry Kane goal four minutes into injury time secures England's passage to the World Cup Finals in Russia next summer.

Friday, 6 October 2017 - The squad return to training ahead of their trip to Lithuania.
