Wednesday, 18 April 2018 -
England will take on both Switzerland and United States later this year as the
autumn schedule is finalised. With
England already having dates in the calendar against Croatia and
Spain, there were two dates left to fill. The Americans will visit on
15 November.
Sunday, 4 November 2018
- The FA have confirmed that Wayne Rooney will return the squad
and make a one-off final appearance, to earn his 120th cap. Rooney has
been gifted an unprecedented opportunity to say goodbye to his England
career after the FA turned the next match into a charity send-off.
The game will be the 'Wayne Rooney Foundation International'. He
announced his retirement from the international scene fifteen months
ago, and he will train as normal with the rest of the squad before
leaving the camp ahead of the Nations League tie with Croatia.
Thursday,
8 November 2018 - Gareth Southgate names his 28-man squad for
the friendly match with United States and the final Nations League match against
Croatia. Bournemouth's Callum Wilson receives his first ever call-up.
During Arsenal's Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon, Danny
Welbeck broke his ankle.
Monday, 12
November 2018 - The 27 members of the sqaud arrive at St.
George's Park and have their first training session. Although Kieran
Trippier is kep out of training after he picked up a groin injury in
Saturdays match between Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
Tuesday, 13 November 2018 - Kieran
Trippier has withdrawn from the squad and returned to his club.
Wednesday, 14 November 2018 -
Only 25 of the squad are in training today, with Joe Gomez training
separately indoors. Gareth Southgate confirms that Fabian Delph will
captain the side against United States tomorrow. Wayne Rooney will be a second
half substitute and will receive the captains armband when he does.
Thursday, 15
November 2018 - The England squad are training at The Hive, the
home of Barnet FC, ahead of their friendly clash tonight.
