Club Career

Club(s) Played representative football with Crewe Schools and Cheshire Schoolboys. Joined Crewe Alexandra FC as an amateur in 1951, turning professional in January 1952. After 48 league appearances and twelve goals, Chelsea FC signed Blunstone in February 1953 for a £7000 transfer fee. He represented the British Army during his national service. He remained at Chelsea until his retirement in 1964 because of injury. He had broken his leg twice during his career. He had made 317 league appearances for Chelsea, scoring 47 goals.

Management Career

Club(s) After injury forced his retirement, Chelsea offered Blunstone the position of youth team coach, a position he held from October 1963 until his appointment as Brentford FC manager in December 1969. He returned to youth team duties, but at Manchester United FC, from July 1973, he stepped up to reserve team coach from August 1975. He accepted the position of Derby County FC's assistant manager from September 1977 until July 1979. Took up positions in Greece, firstly with Ethnikos FC in August 1979, and then chief coach at Aris FC between March and July 1980. He returned to be a part of Sheffield Wednesday's backroom staff.  Briefly took charge of Brentford FC again in 1984.
