England's
new kit for the 2022 World Cup brought back a shade of blue with reminiscences
of Euro '96, though this time with a new graded pattern of blues fading
across the shoulders. It was not to everyone's taste, but England
kits never are.
Just as they had in 2020, the Under-21s were the first to appear in the
kit, in Italy, and again, it was with the alternative white shorts making
it an all-white kit, now a common sight for England fans. All white had
been England's choice for full internationals on exactly a hundred
occasions in modern times going back to 1959, and it was the first-choice
combination as England won the 2023 UEFA Under-21 Championship.
