Diary

Saturday, 30 July 2011 - England will face Montenegro, Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, and San Marino in Group H when they bid to qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. The draw was made this afternoon in Rio. "It is not an easy draw," said Fabio Capello. "You have to be really, really focused and playery game like a final - but that will be another manager's job."

Wednesday, 23 November 2011 - England's FIFA 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures have today been finalised, following a meeting between all of the Group H member associations in Warsaw. The Three Lions will begin their campaign in Moldova in September 2012.

Friday, 24 August 2012 - John Terry will be in England's squad for September's World Cup qualifying matches against Moldova and Ukraine. The Football Association has yet to announce a date for Terry's independent hearing over charges he used a racist slur against QPR's Anton Ferdinand. The Chelsea captain, 31, denies the allegation and was cleared of racially abusing Ferdinand by a magistrates' court in July. "I can select him, and I will be selecting him," said boss Roy Hodgson.

Sunday, 26 August 2012 - Wayne Rooney faces four weeks on the sidelines after suffering a gash on his right leg during Manchester United's 3-2 win over Fulham. He was injured when blocking a free-kick and Fulham's Hugo Rodallega landed on the England international's thigh. Rooney, who spent the night in hospital before being released on today, will miss two World Cup qualifiers.

Thursday, 30 August 2012 - Roy Hodgson has named a 24-man squad ahead of the opening World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine next month.

John Terry has been included, despite missing Chelsea's victory over Newcastle United at the weekend with a neck injury.

On the evening, Andy Carroll had signed a season-long loan deal with West Ham United FC.

Saturday, 1 September 2012 - Andy Carroll limped out of his debut as his new club, West Ham United beat Fulfam 3-0.  He has withdrawn from the England squad due to a hamstring injury.  There will be no replacement, with Theo Walcott expected to provide adequate cover.

Monday, 3 September 2012 - Ashley Cole will miss England's match against Moldova on Friday because of an ankle injury. The Chelsea left-back, 31, returned to his club shortly after joining up with the squad. The injury is described as "minor", and he will be assessed on Sunday over his availability for the qualifier against Ukraine.

Thursday, 6 September 2012 - Adam Johnson has been ruled out of the match with Moldova following a thigh injury. He has returned to his club for treatment.
