Tuesday, 8 April 2014 -
England will travel to Dublin to face Republic of Ireland in the Aviva
Stadium on Sunday 7 June 2015. The meeting between the sides will form
part of preparations during the qualification campaign for UEFA Euro
2016. England face Slovenia on Sunday 14 June 2015, but a week prior
to that away qualifier, will play Martin O'Neill's team. It will be the
second meeting between the two nations in two years. Ireland made
their first visit to the new Wembley in 2013, as part of The FA's
150th anniversary celebrations, Shane Long and Frank Lampard scored
the goals in a 1-1 draw.
Thursday, 14 May 2015 -
Leighton Baines will miss England's games against Republic of Ireland
and Slovenia after undergoing surgery for an ongoing ankle complaint.
the Everton left-back will also sit out the club's final games of the
Premier League season but is expected to be back when they return for
pre-season training.
Wednesday, 20 May 2015 -
Gareth Southgate has named his 27-man squad to take to the UEFA
Under-21 Championships in Czech Republic next month. It includes
Tottenham's Harry Kane, as well as Arsenal's Calum Chambers. Other
full internationals making the provisional squad include Jack Butland,
Carl Jenkinson and John Stones. Saido Berahino also makes the squad.
Thursday, 21 May 2015 - Roy
Hodgson names his final squad of the 2014-15 season. The 24-men
include two new forwards, QPR's Charlie Austin, who has scored
seventeen
Premier League goals this season, and Leicester City's Jamie Vardy.
Burnley's goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, has also been handed his first
call-up. Jack Wilshere earns a recall, after coming through his recent
injury. Danny Rose,
Luke Shaw, Kyle Walker and Michael Carrick all miss out.
Friday, 28 May 2015 - On a day that
ends with Sepp Blatter winning another term at the corrupt-ridden FIFA,
Roy Hodgson says he could end his tenure as England manager after Euro
2016 if he does not feel "wanted". And Southampton decline a £10
million offer for their defender Nathaniel Clyne from Liverpool.
Saturday, 29 May 2015 -
Danny Welbeck has withdrawn from the squad as he has not recovered
from his injuries. Roy Hodgson has confirmed that he
is not seeking to replace Welbeck, as he already as a contingency plan
in place. Hodgson did reveal that Aston Villa's Tom Cleverley was
close to an England recall. His performances for Tim Sherwood's team
have helped the Villains avoid relegation from the Premier League and
reach todays Cup Final at Wembley, and he admits, if there any other
withdrawals, Cleverley will likely be called up.
Wednesday, 3 June 2015 -
England hold their first training session at St. George's Park,
without incident.
Thursday, 4 June 2015 -
Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign England midfielder James Milner
from Manchester City on a free transfer. The Reds have agreed personal
terms with the 29-year-old, who will join the club when his contract
at the City expires on 1 July - subject to a medical.
21 of the
players have been training at St. George's Park. Fabian Delph was
doing work in the gymnasium and Adam Lallana would join later.
Friday, 5 June 2015 - Ryan
Mason is forced to withdraw from the squad because of injury. His
natural replacement, Tom Cleverley, is finally drafted into the squad.
On the day he signs on a free transfer with Everton, effective 1 July.
