All information is
complete to and including England's last match, the eighth of the 2016-17
season, against Scotland on 10 June 2017.
Diary
Wednesday, 14 September 2016 -
The Football Association announce that England
will play France at Stade de France on 13 June next year.
Thursday, 25 May 2017 -
England captain and record goalscorer Wayne Rooney has been left out
of Gareth Southgate's squad to face Scotland in a World Cup qualifier
and France in a friendly. Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford
has been included in the squad and will therefore not play at the
European Under-21 Championships in Poland. Tottenham Hotspur's Kieran
Trippier is the only new face in the squad, while Stoke goalkeeper
Jack Butland returns for the first time since injuring his knee in
England’s victory over Germany last March. Burnley's Michael Keane has
a calf injury and will not play, but the 24-year-old defender, who
made
his first two senior appearance earlier this season, will report to St
George's Park for one day during the build-up to the double header.
Tuesday, 30 May 2017 -
Nathaniel Clyne has pulled out of the squad because of an injury.
Tuesday, 6 June 2017 - The
entire squad complete first day of training at St. George's Park. It
comes after the squad have spent a couple of days with the Royal
Marines' Commando Training Centre in Devon. Jamie Vardy is
withdrawn from the squad after picking up a minor injury in training
yesterday.
Friday, 9 June 2017 - The
remaining members of the 23-man squad all train at St. George's Park
before leaving for Glasgow from Birmingham International Airport. Upon
arrival at Hampden Park, Harry Kane is announced as the team captain
for tomorrow night.
Saturday, 10 June 2017 - A
dramatic final six minutes see's England squander a lead to claw back
a draw as they draw 2-2 in Glasgow, maintaining their qualification
record. Eric Dier is cautioned, so is suspended for the match against
Malta in September.
Monday, 12 June 2017 - All 23 members
of the squad are training at the Stade Omnisports
in Paris.
Tuesday, 13 June 2017 - Gareth
Southgate confirms that Harry Kane will again wear the captain's
armband for tomorrow nights friendly. The manager has also confirmed
that Tom Heaton will earn his first start for the country and Jack
Butland will play the second half in goal. It is been a
long-standing arrangement, and not a reaction to present number one,
Joe Hart, conceding two free-kicks in the final moments of
Saturday's match.
