All information is
complete to and including England's last match, the eighth of the 2015-16
season, against Netherlands on 29 March 2016.
Diary
Monday, 29 February 2016 -
Reports suggest that England are lining up a friendly with Turkey to
be played at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium on 22 May. Although
Football Association chiefs are concerned that the fixture will clash
with the finals of both the F.A. Vase and F.A. Trophy, both due to
take place at Wembley the same day. England will then play Australia
at Sunderland, and Portugal at Wembley, as warm-up matches to the main
event. Qualified teams are only supposed to play one other team who
will also play at the competition in the build-up, but England have
reportedly received special dispensation to play both Portugal and
Turkey.
Friday, 6 May 2016 - Alex
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out of the European Championships
after suffering his second knee injury of the season. Arsenal boss
Arsene Wenger says the 22-year-old, capped 24 times, will be out for a
further six to eight weeks. Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered his initial
knee injury in the Champions League defeat by Barcelona on 23
February. "There is no chance of the Euros for him," said Wenger. "He
will be back at the beginning of July."
Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson will be fit for the finals, according to
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool captain, 25, suffered
knee ligament damage against Borussia Dortmund on 7 April, and was
expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks. However, Klopp says
Henderson may feature in the Reds' Europa League final against Sevilla
on 18 May. "Hendo is in a really good way so it's good for England,"
Klopp said. "There's no doubt about him being fit for the European
Championships."
Wednesday, 11 May 2016 -
Danny Welbeck has been ruled out for nine months following knee
surgery. Welbeck, 25, injured his right knee in the Gunners' 2-2 draw
against Manchester City on Sunday. His club said tests had revealed
"significant cartilage damage" but it is not the same injury which saw
him miss seven months of this season.
Thursday, 12 May 2016 - Roy
Hodgson delays the decision to announce his European Championship
Squad until after the final Premier League weekend has been played,
allowing himself four extra days to assess players' injuries and
fitness.
Monday, 16 May 2016 -
Roy Hodgson's provisional squad is named. Marcus Rashford is included
and Jack Wilshere, along with Andros Townsend and Fabian Delph are
recalled. Theo Walcott and Phil Jagielka miss out, and there is no
room for Jermain Defoe. Hodgson has until 31 May to cull his squad by
three.
Wednesday, 18 May 2016 -
Many of the England squad report to St. George's Park for training
ahead of next week's friendly match. It excludes players from
Liverpool and Manchester United, who are still participating in
domestic competitions. However, those involved come through with
incident. Gary Cahill misses training.
Friday, 20 May 2016 -
Jordan Henderson joins the rest of the squad in training after
returning from Basel, where he starred in a non-participating role as Liverpool lost the UEFA Europa League
Final on Wednesday night. Gary Cahill also has his first training
session. Today's training session is joined by
England Rugby coach, Eddie Jones, as well as an unwanted autograph
hunter, who had invaded the training pitch during a session.
