All information is complete
to and including England's last match, the second of the 2018-19 season, against
Switzerland on 11 September 2018.
Diary
Wednesday, 24 January 2018 -
Following the draw in Lausanne, England will face Spain and Croatia in
League A of the inaugural UEFA Nations League.
The first group games take place in September this year, with the
finals scheduled for June 2019.
Thursday,
4 October 2018 - Gareth Southgate manager has signed a new
contract keeping him in the job until at least the 2022 World Cup
Finals. James Maddison, Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount have all been
named in the 25-man squad for the first time. Other uncapped players
in the squad that keep their places include Macrus Bettinelli and Alex
McCarthy. Nathaniel Chalobah returns to the squad. Ross Barkley has
also earned his place back into the squad, for the first time since
March 2017, as does Harry Winks, who returns for the first time since
November 2017. Those that are missing because of injury are Dele Alli,
Jesse Lingard, Adam Lallana, Fabian Delph and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Ben
Chilwell and Demarai Gray miss out. Jadon Sancho becomes the first
player born in the 21st century to be called up for England.
Sunday, 7 October 2018 - Burnley's
James Tarkowski has withdrawn from the squad after picking up a groin
injury. Southgate has drafted in Brighton & Hove Albion's Lewis Dunk as
his replacement. Dunk has had no international experience and has just
signed a new five-year contract with the south coast club.
Monday, 8 October 2018 - Luke Shaw
withdraws from the squad, allowing a recall for Leicester's Ben
Chilwell. Although Shaw completed the full ninety minutes in
Manchester United's astounding victory over Newcastle United in the
Premier League on Friday, he complained of injury problems afterwards.
The Football Foundation are announced as being the lead sponsor of the
team for the upcoming Nations League matches.
Tuesday, 9 October 2018 - Following
a day of recovery, the first day of training at St. George's Park only
includes 22 of the players. Danny Welbeck, Danny Rose and Alex
McCarthy are all working indoors.
Thursday, 11 October 2018 - It is announced that as Alex
McCarthy and Danny Rose arrived at St. George's Park with injuries,
they are to return to their clubs, instead of flying out to Croatia
later today. Danny Welbeck, who is still training on his own, will be
travelling, as the other 22 men all train.
