Diary

Sunday, 23 February 2014 - England's 2016 UEFA European Championship qualifying fixtures have today been drawn up and finalised, following the draw was a meeting between all of the Group E member associations in Warsaw. The Three Lions will begin their campaign in Switzerland in September 2014.

Thursday, 1 October 2015 - Roy Hodgson has named his squad for the upcoming qualifiers next week against Estonia and Lithuania.  Daniel Sturridge has been left out, despite making a club return. However, there are first call ups for Tottenham's Dele Alli and Sturridge's teammate from Liverpool, Danny Ings.  Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, who has opted to play for England rather than the Republic of Ireland, is awaiting international clearance. Also returning to the squad are Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand, Manchester United's Phil Jones and Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, who missed September's matches against San Marino and Switzerland with injury.

Hodgson revealed that he had wanted Jack Grealish to train with the upcoming squad, but the move was blocked by his club manager, Tim Sherwood.

Tuesday, 6 October 2015 - John Stones will miss England's final two Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania with a knee injury. The 21-year-old Everton centre-back sat out Sunday's 1-1 Premier League draw with Liverpool at Goodison Park. Roy Hodgson has brought in Tottenham's Andros Townsend and Kyle Walker as cover. There are also doubts over the fitness of captain Wayne Rooney, Liverpool striker Danny Ings and Swansea midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, all of whom did not train at St George's Park today. Spurs midfielder Townsend, 24, last featured against Slovenia in June, while full-back Walker, 25, made his eleventh appearance in the friendly draw in Italy in March.

Thursday, 8 October 2015 - Wayne Rooney will miss tomorrow's Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia at Wembley. The 29-year-old has not trained fully this week after injuring an ankle in Manchester United's defeat at Arsenal. Chelsea defender Gary Cahill will captain England in Rooney's absence. Midfielder Michael Carrick and striker Danny Ings also missed training today but midfielder Jonjo Shelvey completed his first session of the week. Rooney will remain with the squad for Friday's game, before which he will receive a commemorative golden boot from Sir Bobby Charlton, whose record he equalled when he scored his 49th international goal in the victory over Switzerland last month.

Friday, 9 October 2015 - England beat Estonia 2-0 with a goal each half fro Theo Walcott and Raheem Sterling. It maintains England's 100% record as Dele Alli makes his bow on the international stage. Hodgson confirms after the match that Wayne Rooney, James Milner, Michael Carrick, Gary Cahill and Joe Hart will be rested and not travel to Lithuania for the final qualification match.

Sunday, 11 October 2015 - England train on the LFF stadium pitch under the floodlights in near freezing conditions.  Hodgson had confirmed that Jagielka will be captain for the match, and that Jack Butland, Phil Jones, Jonjo Shelvey and Jamie Vardy will start.
