Sunday, 23 February 2014 - England's 2016 UEFA European Championship qualifying fixtures have today been drawn up and finalised, following the draw was a meeting between all of the Group E member associations in Warsaw. The Three Lions will begin their campaign in Switzerland in September 2014.

Monday, 24 August 2015 - Roy Hodgson will delay naming his squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland until after next weekend's Premier League matches. The 68-year-old had planned to announce his selection tomorrow, but will now wait until Sunday. "We have a large of number of players that still need confirming regarding availability and fitness. Rather than selecting a larger squad now, we will wait for the games at the weekend before choosing around 23 players who are definitely available."

Sunday, 30 August 2015 - Roy Hodgson finally names his 22-man squad. There are returns for Jonjo Shelvey and Luke Shaw. Jack Butland seps up from the under-21's, and Tom Heaton retains his position in the squad.

Friday, 4 September 2015 - All 22 men are fit as they fly to San Marino, Hodgson confirms that Jamie Vardy will win his second cap, as will Jonjo Shelvey, three years after his first. John Stones has also been confirmed as a starter.

Saturday, 5 September 2015 - England overcome San Marino will relative ease, dispatching them with six goals to become the first country to qualify for the European Championship Finals in the summer. Wayne Rooney is within reach of the goalscoring record with a 13th minute penalty, before being substituted before the hour.

Monday, 7 September 2015 - Michael Carrick withdraws from the squad because of a calf injury. It was first felt when Carrick was doing a warm-up before the San Marino game on Saturday.
