Birth 1 October 1936 at 23 Malvern Crescent, Holly Hall, Dudley, Worcestershire [registered in Dudley, December 1936]. To Gladstone and Sarah (née Harrison) Edwards.
Attended Priory Road Junior School and Wolverhampton Road Secondary Modern, Dudley
Partner Duncan had announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Molly Leach, days before the tragedy.
Death 21 February 1958 in the Klinikum rechts der Isarl, München, aged 21 years 143 days [not registered in England & Wales].
Edwards succumbed to the injuries that he had sustained in the plane crash fifteen days earlier.
One of 23 fatalities of the Munich Air Disaster, one of four England players.
Funeral on 26 February at St Francis' Church and buried in Holly Hall Cemetery, Dudley, with his sister, Carol Anne, who had died in 1947, aged 14 weeks.

Club Career
Club(s) Played school football with Wolverhampton Street Secondary School, where his skills and talent were harnessed and was soon playing regularly football with Dudley Schoolboys and Worcester County XI.  Despite interest from several clubs, Duncan always wanted to play for Manchester United FC, and on 31 May 1952, that wish became a reality when Jimmy Murphy and Bert Whalley secured Edward's signature as an amateur, at his Dudley home. He eventually signed his professional contract on 1 October 1953. 23145376 Lance Corporal Edwards D also served in the Army for two years doing National Service. Serving mostly at the Ammunitions Depot at Nescliff.

One of only handful of players who have a street named after him.  Duncan Edwards Close is in Dudley, DY1, opposite Dudley Cemetery.  Also a Duncan Edwards Court in the Newton Heath area of Manchester, M40.

On 6th February 1958 the airliner carrying players and backroom staff of Manchester United, plus a number of journalists and supporters, crashed in a blizzard on its third attempt to take off from Munich airport. United were returning from Belgrade where they had just beaten Red Star Belgrade in the European Cup and had stopped off at Munich for re-fuelling.
