Playing Career

Club(s) Flowers was spotted playing at school by Doncaster Rovers FC, whilst he was also representing Doncaster & Yorkshire Boys FC. He joined Wath Wanderers FC in Juy 1950, a nursery club to Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, with whom he signed professional forms in July 1952. He remained at Molineux, despite an offer from Aston Villa FC in October 1966, which Villa denied. However, on 1 September 1967, he signed for Northampton Town FC as the new club captain for under £10,000, stepping up to management on 30 May 1968. In July 1969, he played for and coached Telford United FC.

Management Career

Club(s) Flowers was approached to become Mansfield Town FC's new player-manager, but Wolves turned that opportunity. However, after becoming the club captain, he stepped up to the role of player-manager at Northampton Town FC from 30 May 1968 until 13 May 1969, following Town's relegation o the Fourth Division. On 12 July 1969, he played for and coached the newly-named Telford United FC. Resigned on 23 October 1971.
