Played his
school football with Preston Schools and Lancashire Youths, and then
signed amateur forms with Blackburn Rovers FC in July 1949, turning
professional in August 1951 (He missed out on signing for
Preston North End FC after the Deepdale club refused to sign Ronnie and
his brother Ken!). Left Rovers after 581 league
appearances to join Morecambe FC as player-manager in July 1969 until
August 1970, when he was sacked one game into the new season. Joined
Harwood Wellington FC late in 1970, before retiring. |
